The objective of the Probability and Statistics module is to provide students with the necessary foundations to model, analyze, and interpret random phenomena.
It aims to:
-
Understand the principles of probability calculation and their use in assessing risks or uncertainties;
-
Master common probability distributions and the characteristics of random variables;
-
Learn how to describe and summarize statistical data, and then draw conclusions from samples;
-
Develop critical and methodological thinking when dealing with numerical data and random situations.
In summary, this module prepares students to apply probabilistic and statistical tools in modeling, decision-making, and scientific research.
This course is intended for second-year students in preparatory classes and undergraduate mathematics programs, within the LMD system.
